Salute to Brigadier General Riley P. Porter

Brigadier General Riley P. Porter, a native of West Helena, Arkansas, retired from the Air Force recently. Riley began his career in the Air National Guard as a second lieutenant after graduating from the University of Arkansas Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps Program. During his career, Riley took command of several units including the 189th Operations Support Flight, the 189th Airlift Wing, and the 154th Training Squadron as a flight commander. He logged over 5,700 flight hours on four different aircraft during his career.  Riley was the assistant adjutant general-air for the Arkansas National Guard when he retired. His awards include the Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with 4 Bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Humanitarian Service medal, Arkansas Distinguished Service medal, and the Arkansas Emergency Service Ribbon among many others.1
