British Royal Navy Sailor's Cap of the H.M.S. Tyne

This is a British Royal Navy sailor's cap from the early Cold War era (1947-1991). The cap was worn by crewmen of the H.M.S. Tyne, as evidenced by the title on the cap tally, which comes to a bow on the left side. The Tyne was a depot ship launched in 1940. It served in World War II and Korea before being scuttled in 1972. On either side of the cap are a set of vent holes. On the inside is the name D. Grieve.

During World War II the Royal Navy removed the name of the ship from the sailor's cap tally. For security reasons just the H.M.S. (His Majesty's Ship) was worn.1
