German Luftwaffe M-42 with Olive Green Camouflage inscribed "Gross" and "Kounek PDK"

This German M-42 steel helmet features a single olive green camouflage coating. There is no decal insignia under the camouflage. The helmet is attributed to the Luftwaffe because of the blue-gray paint visible underneath the camouflage and interior liner.1 The interior has a M-31 leather liner system with "1940" date stamped on the metal band. The "ET64" letter code indicates this helmet was manufactured by the Eisen- und Hüttenwerke A.G. in Thale and is a size 64 cm.2 Of unknown meaning and origin are the inscriptions "Gross" and "KOUNEK PDK" written directly on the liner. Both are presumably names.
