Japanese Fireman's Cloth Helmet
This is a Japanese fireman’s helmet from the World War II era (1939-1945). The helmet is covered in a thick cloth and features a fire/police insignia on the front. The cover is fastened by a single metal band around the middle of the helmet. A cherry blossom crest is attached to the front. Around the sides is a long cloth neck cover that fastens around the wearer’s front, leaving only a small eye hole. The inside includes an A-frame tie chinstrap. The helmet style and shape is reminiscent of early Japanese helmet designs from the feudal era.
