Soviet SSh-40 Army Helmet with Painted CCCP

This is a Soviet Union SSh-40 Army helmet from the early Cold War era (1947-1991). The helmet is painted olive green, typical of helmets from this time period, and features “CCCP” painted around the sides and back. This stands for Сою́з Сове́тских Социалисти́ческих Респу́блик or The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. On the inside is a leather three pad liner along with a leather chinstrap. The chinstrap is an A-frame type. A manufacturer’s stamp at the back of the shell indicates it was produced in 1953.
