Italian M-35 Leather Tank Helmet of Spanish Francoist Forces

This is an Italian M-35 leather tank crew helmet from the Spanish Civil War era (1936-1939). It features a leather shell with a Franco forces emblem on the front: a gold eagle holding a crown with a red cross in its center. These helmets were originally issued without emblems; however, when badges were used, they were fitted onto the helmet front with one or two loops sewn into the leather.1 Around the brim of the helmet is a wide padded leather band. The helmet also contains two leather ear flaps with holes for hearing covered by a short neck guard that follows the back of the helmet.
