This is a Czechoslovakian Model 1953 steel helmet from the period of the Cold War (1947-1991). It is modeled after the Soviet Ssh-39, with an upgraded version of the original leather liner. It is also the first type of the M-53 with the simple, adjustable leather chinstrap. The helmet is olive drab in color, and features a brown leather suspension, wrapped around a grey felt which covers the metal liner band. Inside the helmet is a stamp with two crossed swords and the number “53,” indicating it is Czechoslovakian-made and the year 1953.
