German M-42 Police Helmet with Reversed Decals
This is a German Model-1942 steel helmet from World War II (1939-1945). There are two decals painted on this helmet, a National Party shield on the left side and a Police eagle decal on the right. This is reverse of the normal regulation placement for German Police helmets. Above each decal is a vent lug. The shell is painted a field gray color.
On the inside of the helmet is a German style liner. This type of liner features several tongues that stick out into the middle of the shell. This liner is attached to a metal band that is itself attached to the shell by three bolts. Two chinstrap bales are also attached to the metal band but the chinstrap is missing from the helmet.
