German Army General Staff Officer's Visor Hat, WWII

This is a German Heer (Army) officer’s visor hat from World War II (1939-1945). The hat features a silver second pattern army eagle national emblem on the front. Below the emblem is a German national cockade surrounded by a second pattern silver wreath. A double corded silver chinstrap is attached to the front by a set of pebbled buttons, indicating the wearer was an officer. Around the crown and hat band is carmine piping, indicating the wearer belong to the general staff and army high command. On the inside is a manufacturer’s label for Erel.
