Italian 5th Alpine Artillery Regiment Officer's Cap
This is an Italian 5th Alpine Artillery officer’s cap. This type of cap, called an cappello alpino, was worn by mountain troops based in the Alps along northern Italy. The crossed cannons and the number five on the stylized bomb indicate that the owner of this cap belonged to the 5th Alpine Artillery regiment, which was a part of the 5th Alpine Division Pusteria. The gold wire used on the badge indicate that the owner was an officer. The cap is made from felt.
