This is a German Der Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten (The Steel Helmet, League of Frontline Soldiers) commemorative badge from the Interwar Period (1918-1939). The black enamel badge features a WWI steel helmet embossed with an iron cross and “Der Stahlhelm” over a bed of oak leaves and the year 1928. On the reverse is the owner’s membership number, 6, and the year he joined the organization, January 14, 1927.
