German Army Officer's Dagger, Excavated
This artifact is a German Army officer’s dress dagger produced by Weyersberg, Kirschbaum & Co. (WKC). It is heavily tarnished and rusted and was likely excavated at some point. All the features of the dagger including the oak leaves and eagle ornamentation are still intact, but the hanger and portepee (sword knot) accouterments are missing. The blade is still in fair condition, and the WKC logo is clearly visible at the base, which has been preserved by the scabbard.
