U.S. Navy Mk II Talker Helmet Damn the Torpedoes
This steel Mk II Navy “talker’s” helmet was manufactured by the McCord Radiator and Manufacturing Company and has blue paint indicative of 1942-1945 production dates. The helmet bears the name “Capt. Doug” on the back with the phrase “Damn the Torpedoes” on the right side and a torpedo with the numbers “7-4-83” painted on the left. On the front of the helmet is an unidentified insignia, possibly a discolored U.S. Navy Lieutenant rank badge.
