This is an Italian Milizia Volontaria per la Sicurezza Nazionale (National Security Volunteer Militia), or MVSN general's fez from the dating to the late interwar years (1918-1939). Featured on the front of the fez is a large embroidered eagle badge on a red backing worn by generals of the MVSN.1 The left side bears the embroidered rank insignia of a commandante general (general). A gold cord is fastened to the top and wraps around the left side.2 Also attached to the top of the fez is a long black tassel. On the inside is a yellow silk liner with a manufacturer's stamp.
