French Chef d'Escadron d'Artillerie Kepi, 1970s
This French kepi belonged to an artillery Chef d'Escadron d'Artillerie (artillery commandant). It is made from fine black wool and includes several distinguishing characteristics. The front is adorned with a gold embroidered flaming grenade and gold false chinstrap with artillery side buttons. Four gold stripes run along the top that signify the commandant rank (U.S. major equivalent).1 Also, a Hungarian knot is embroidered on the top.
