French Captain's Kepi of 1st Artillery Regiment
This kepi belonged to a Captain in the French 1st Artillery Regiment during the latter part of the Third Republic. It has a black felt cloth body and features an embroidered "1" unit designation on the front. The three horizontal gold stripes around the top of the body signify the Captain rank.1 Also, two buttons embossed with Artillery insignia hold the false chinstrap in place.
