This is a French Gendarmerie Mobile kepi used during the 1990s. The hat features a Gendarmerie grenade insignia and gold piping around the top of the hat. The single gold stripe around the top of the hat, above the gold “elite stripe” ribbon, indicates the rank of Sous-Lieutenant (2nd Lieutenant).
