This is a Pre-World War II (1939-1945) German Model 1935 steel helmet. It features the pre-war “pea green” factory paint finish and two decals: the German Army eagle national emblem (left) and national red, white, and black tricolor shield (right). The interior has the standard M-31 leather liner with an early aluminum liner band dating to 1937. Also, the factory dome stamp dates 1937. The stamp “NS.66” on the interior left skirt indicates the manufacturer, Vereinigte Deutsche Nikelwerke of Schwerte, and the size, 66 cm.
