U.S. M-1 Helmet from Army 5th Ranger Battalion

Manufactured in March/April 1942, this M-1 helmet belonged to a soldier from the United States Army 5th Ranger Battalion in World War II. The back of the helmet is clearly marked with the number "5" inside an orange diamond shape. Both the 2nd and 5th Ranger Battalions wore this type of insignia in Normandy on D-Day, June 6, 1944.1
