USAAF M-4A2 Flak Helmet with Helmet Block, WWII

This helmet is an American Model 4A2 flak helmet worn by United States Army Air Force (USAAF) turret gunners in World War II (1939-1945). It is made from strips of steel covered in olive drab cloth and worn over a cloth or leather flight helmet. Two movable ear flaps extend from each side and provide accommodation for the wearer’s flight helmet. Included is a wooden block designed specifically to hold the helmet.
