British Army General Staff Officer's Dress Peaked Cap

This is a British Army general staff officer’s visor, or peaked, cap from World War II (1939-1945). The hat features an embroidered general staff cap badge on the front with a lion over a crown. Below the badge is a black chinstrap fastened by gold side buttons bearing the Order of the Garter motto “Honi Soit Qui Mal Y Pense” circling the royal cipher of King George VI (1895-1952). One row of embroidered gold leaves is attached to the hat visor. On the inside is a manufacturer’s label for J. Daniels & Co.
