U.S. Air Force P-4A Flight Helmet named to Dudley, 1955
This is a United States Air Force P-4A flight helmet manufactured by the Selby Shoe Company in 1955. The helmet features a white painted shell with a black tinted visor that is adjustable up and down along a metal track, which is the major difference between the P-4A and the original P-4. A gift note is written on the top and reads, "To Dudley from the fellows of 303," along with various signatures.
On the interior is a canvas and leather suspension liner marked with the USAF emblem. A set of ear cups with built-in microphones are visible on either side. The Selby Shoe Company label is attached to the inner dome and includes the date August 3, 1955, size large, and specification number MIL-H-7328A. Attached to the front by a set of snaps is an MS-22001 oxygen mask dated from the mid to late 1950s.
