German Luftwaffe M-38 Paratrooper Helmet with Belt Hanging Ring

This is a German Luftwaffe Model 1938 paratrooper helmet from World War II (1939-1945). The helmet features a second pattern Luftwaffe eagle national emblem on the left side. The German paratrooper helmet has a distinct streamlined shape, allowing air to flow over it without causing the helmet to lift off the wearer's head. The two bolts, used to attach the liner to the helmet, are spanner types designed specifically for the M-38. A custom metal ring is attached to the back of the helmet and was used to hang the helmet from a belt. On the inside is a leather liner with several large holes, again to facilitate air flow. The manufacturer's stamp on the steel shell is for the Eisenhüttenwerke firm of Thale, Germany. There is also size stamp found on the liner. Judging from the type of decal used, the liner, and the stamps, this helmet was most likely worn after 1940.1
