Although the design of the Model B was not regularly used until the 1950s, the German Army tested this experimental helmet during the later years of World War II (1939-1945). The shape is definitely different from what one would expect from a German helmet produced in the WWII era, and the new liner, designated the M-44, had modifications as well. Although it tested extremely well, Hitler rejected the design when it was proposed to him.
