French Navy White-topped Visor Cap for General of Medicine
This is a French white-topped summer dress visor cap belonging to a general of medicine of the navy (Médecin Général de la marine). The cap features a gold wire embroidered naval officer’s cap badge on the front. Below the badge is a gold double corded chinstrap attached to the front by a set of gold officer buttons embossed with anchors. The cap band, similar to those worn by flag rank officers, includes two intertwined snakes, designating the wearer as a general of medicine. On the inside sweat band is a H. Ballihache manufacturer’s label.
