French Navy 2nd Class General Mechanic Engineer Visor Cap of Augustin Moutardier
This is a French Navy 2nd Class General Mechanic Engineer’s visor cap from World War II (1939-1945). The cap features a gold wire embroidered naval officer’s cap badge on the front. Below the badge is an embroidered cap band, similar to those worn by flag rank officers, but has the mechanic engineers emblem on the front middle. The single row of embroidery distinguishes this cap from the 1st Class General, which has a second small row below the first. A gold double corded chinstrap is attached to the front by a set of naval officer’s chinstrap side buttons. The cap belonged to 2nd Class General Mechanic Engineer Augustin Moutardier.
