Medic's M-1 "Fixed Bale" Helmet with Large Red Cross Insignia

This M-1 helmet shell belonged to a medic in the U.S. Army during World War II (1939-1945). It has five separate large Red Cross on white circle emblems (one on the front and back, one on each side, and one on top). This design appears to be the most widely used, but studies in WWII photographs have shown countless different examples of the humanitarian medic emblem with no specific regulation required.
