U.S. Army Brigadier General Martin Morin's M-1 Helmet

This M-1 steel helmet belonged to Major General Martin Morin (1906-1993). It was worn by him when he served as a brigadier general in Korea in 1954 assisting in the command of the 24th Infantry Division through 1955. On the front of the helmet is a single bronze star representing the rank of brigadier general. The helmet also includes a plastic liner, manufactured by MSA, and a leather chinstrap. The helmet itself is a late war model from World War II (1939-1945). General Morin served in World War II as a lieutenant colonel and colonel but it is unknown whether or not he wore this helmet during that war. General Morin retired in 1962 and died in February of 1993. This helmet is also published on page 130 in Steel Pots, vol. 2, Painted Steel by Chris Armold.
